Monday January 16th
Today at 2pm in Hisham Palace in Nablus, our 4 returned Palestinian musicians from Denmark will give a presentation on their experience abroad followed by a performance of music. We hope to see you there!
Saturday September 24th
For the past week we’ve hosted 4 Palestinian musicians at the Ethno Denmark music camp in Glamsbjerg, in collaboration with our partner Musik og Ungdom. We’ve all been having a wonderful time so far. Check out the pictures through our Facebook page below to see how we’ve been getting on!
Thursday August 3rd
We’re really excited to have received 4 Danish musicians to work with us over the next two weeks. They’ll be participating with us in the inaugural Nablus Festival. They’ve already been collaborating with four young talented Palestinian musicians who will join them in their performances during the Nablus Festival. This is in advance of their participation at another festival in Denmark this summer called Ethno Denmark, which all eight musicians will be performing at.
Sunday April 24th
In 2016, our local partner Project Hope will organise Nablus’s inaugural Cultural Festival. The festival will take place from April 25th to May 2nd, and will celebrate and showcase the best of local and international culture. It is hoped to host a wide range of international artists in the city over the course of the festival, and as such they’re currently entertaining proposals from artists who would like to perform in the city during the festival. Thanks to all our volunteers and supporters for all of their energy and enthusiasm during 2015. We’re now looking forward to new projects beginning in 2016! Our classes and concerts will resume in February next year when a new batch of volunteers will arrive. Also, please visit out website regularly to keep updated on the Nablus Cultutual Festival which will take place in April and May this year.

Friday 4th July
After a short break, we’re well and truly back into the swing of things. We were delighted to welcome Chris O’Donoghue from Irish charity SERVE to Nablus for four intensive days of youth work training in May. Then, a new volunteer joined us. An excellent violinist, he has certainly been kept busy – alongside our established centres, he’s also been teaching at summer camps in Nablus four days a week.
Sunday 8th June
Music Harvest volunteers have been busy these past few weeks – we’ve visited the Women’s Studies Centre and been to concerts at An-Najah University, alongside teaching, of course! This week we’re attending a briefing with prisoner support and human rights association Addameer.
Sunday 5th April
Previous Music Harvest volunteer Sarah Clowry and former Programme Co-ordinator Hannah Gallagher played some beautiful music by Schubert, Schumann and Brahms alongside wonderful musicians Jay Crossland and Mathilde Vittu at the ESNCM Hall, Beit Sahour, last Saturday evening.
Monday 24th March
It was with great sadness that we learned of the sudden passing of one our past volunteers, Thomas Vierstraete, last week. Thomas worked with us in 2011, leading percussion workshops with our students and performing in a number of concerts over his term. We would like to extend our deepest sympathies to his family and friends. He will always be fondly remembered by the students he tutored and the friends he made in Nablus.

Wednesday 25th September
The Music Harvest Children’s Choir participated in the Nablus performance of the Palestine Choral Festival at the end of August, along with the Children’s Cultural Centre Orchestra and the Chœur Régional Nord-Pas de Calais. We’re looking forward to hearing some of our students sing tonight with over eighty singers from the Régional Nord-Pas de Calais Choir from Lille, France. The performance starts at 7.00pm at the Khan Al Wikali, Nablus. Admission free.
Friday 30th August
Tonight in the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, Jerusalem, the مهرجان الجوقة الفلسطيني Palestine Choral Festival continues with a performance of Benjamin Britten’s piece “Saint Nicolas”. The Choir of London, Olive Branches Choir (Bethlehem) and The Australian Voices join with three boy soloists from Jerusalem St. George’s Cathedral and an orchestra made up of musicians from the UK, Spain, France and Palestine to perform this beautiful dramatic work. Both present and past Music Harvest volunteers will be playing in the orchestra. Performance starts at 8!
Saturday 24th August
Loads of exciting activities and concerts scheduled over the coming ten days as part of the Palestine Choral Festival. Organised by The Choir Of London, it’s Palestine’s first Choral Festival and promises to be a wonderful celebration of song and music in Palestine. We are taking the Music Harvest Children’s Choir to Ni’lin tomorrow to participate in the Choir of London’s Children’s Singing Day where they will be learning songs with 9 other choirs from all over Palestine, culminating in a performance at 6pm at al-Khawaja Palace. All are welcome to attend!

Yesterday our volunteers went to Bethlehem for training with Fabienne from Musicians Without Borders, which was a huge success. All proceeds from the night have been donated to our music programme in Nablus.
